Gunston Recreational Soccer Rain Policy

Opening Day for Fall 2008 is September 20, 2008

If it rains how do I find out if games are cancelled??

To determine if fields are open for practice or games, use the following sources:

On Saturdays, the League Commissioner and the Field Coordinator inspect the game day fields to determine if the fields are open for games. The updated information will be posted on the Gunston Hotline by 7:30 on Saturday game dates.

If any one of these sources indicates the fields are closed – they are closed. Rain policy applies to all fields used by club recreational teams for practices and games. Remember, safety is our first priority when playing soccer. In the event that the weather deteriorates during the day the coach must reevaluate the conditions to determine if it is still safe to continue to play – i.e., not too wet, or muddy.

In addition to the safety of our players the league is very concerned about maintaining a good working relationship with the County Park Service and therefore will be conservative in closing the fields when experiencing inclement weather. If we play games on the weekend with poor field conditions (or play during the week when the County has closed the field) the County could not only fine our League (to pay to refurbish the fields damaged) but could also close these fields to our use.
