Gunston Recreational Soccer Code of Conduct
Gunston Recreational Soccer League (GRSL) encourages you to enjoy youth soccer for what it is—youngsters having fun playing a game. Coaches, players, and spectators should be role models of good behavior on the sidelines. Help create this atmosphere and support the Leagues efforts to promote good sportsmanship be adhering to this Code of Conduct as was adopted September 8th at the Fall General Coaches’ Meeting.
I will show respect for officials. I will refrain from questioning official decisions, especially in a disrespectful or abusive manner. Players are to refrain from addressing officials or commenting on their decisions.
I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as booing and taunting; refusing to shake hands; or using profane language or gestures.
I (and my guests) will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials and spectators at every game, practice or other sporting event.
I will demand a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol and I will refrain from their use at all sports events.
The coaches’ have the responsibility to exercise sideline control of the players, parents and spectators supporting their team. In such capacity they are expected to request that people engaging in inappropriate conduct will cease such conduct.
I also agree that if I fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, I will be subject to disciplinary action decided by a Conduct Committee. This Committee will be established, as necessary, to adjudicate instances of misconduct that are brought to the League officials. Disciplinary actions could include, but is not limited to the following:
- Verbal warning by official, head coach, and/or head of league organization
- Written warning
- Coach, Player, and or Spectator game suspension(s) with written documentation of incident kept on file by GRSL
